Mission & vision

Spreading God’s Love Through Service

Our vision is to build a stronger community by expressing compassion and offering tangible support to those facing financial or physical challenges so that they can remain safely in their home.

Community

We are committed to ensuring that all our neighbors in the community have access to all available resources in their time of need.

Service

When helping our neighbors in need, we do so honestly, ethically, and with respect for all.

Guidance

As a community we will mentor others through our character, actions, and speech and will serve as a cornerstone to a brighter future.

Inclusion

Living our faith commitments through service and action provided to our neighbords regardless of race, religion, or gender.

Faith

Equipped with a strong spiritual and ethical foundation, we will uphold the inherent dignity and worth of our neighbors.

HOW WE SERVE THE COMMUNITY

Many community members face challenges in accessing basic necessities due to physical disabilities or financial constraints. The Ramps & Repairs committee helps by building wheelchair ramps, installing or fixing roofs, building steps and handrails, and other basic home repairs.

Providing financial support can help individuals and families become more financially self-sufficient, reducing the need for future emergency assistance. Qualifying individuals can receive funds to help with utility payments, emergency housing, rent/mortgage, medical, and other needs.

When community members face financial hardship, often times they don’t have the resources to invest in essential household items. Our warehouse collects donations of new to gently used furniture and household goods from generous community members, businesses, and churches.

HOW YOU SERVE THE COMMUNITY

Step out of your comfort zone and volunteer.

When you volunteer with Interfaith, you have the opportunity to build lasting bonds with new friends, neighbors, and community members all while positively impacting lives within your community. No skills are required. Come be part of a team that gets to bless somebody.

There is joy in that.

Bless families in your community by donating.

While what you give may be insignificant to you, it is a major thing to the homeowners and the community members who Interfaith Service Council interacts with throughout the year whether it be a home repair, providing basic household items or financial assistance.

You are giving purpose to someones life.

But, the best and easiest way to support our mission is to tell your friends, family, co-workers and anybody you come in contact with about Interfaith Service Council. We are only able to bless those in Northumberland and Lancaster when people know about the work we do.

Moving or updating your home?

Updating your space and have some items to get rid of? We would gladly accept the approved items at the Interfaith Warehouse located on Harris Road. Qualifying members of the community have the opportunity to obtain the household items they need at no cost.
