Making Waves in 2024 - Thank You

2024 has been a record year for Interfaith Services as we strive to fulfill our mission of “Spreading God’s Love through Service” to our community of Lancaster & Northumberland Counties. Interfaith consists of three divisions, Warehouse/ Free Store, Emergency Assistance and Ramp & Repairs, and all three have had a banner year.

This week, David Lacy, the Ramp & Repair Division Lead reported that Interfaith volunteers completed two jobs, including a new roof in Lancaster and a wheelchair ramp in the Ocran area.

The Warehouse/ Free store has received and given out hundreds of home furnishing items and the Emergency Assistance Division has helped more than a hundred families in their time of need. The Ramp and Repairs Division accomplished the following projects: 16 new wheelchair ramps, 12 new sets of steps, 3 new floor replacements, 3 floor repairs, 10 new roofs, 5 exterior door replacements, 5 plumbing repairs and 5 miscellaneous jobs for a total of 59 total jobs completed all at no expense to the homeowner. That is a job completed every 6.2 days!

None of this could happen without the unbelievable support of our donors and volunteers. Thanks so very much to our donors which consist of individuals, civic groups, businesses, foundations and churches that have sustained us for almost a half century. Thanks to the Warehouse/Free store volunteers that work tirelessly from the volunteers that pickup items to the volunteers that man the store at 1086 Harris Road in Kilmarnock on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 to 12 each week. Thanks to our beloved Treasurer, Christy Smith who handles all Emergency Assistance requests and fulfillment and finally thanks to the over 200 Ramp & Repair volunteers that make things happen.

As you can see, Interfaith Services is alive and well and continues to provide our community with much needed assistance in time of need. We are praying that 2025 will be an even more productive year as we “Spread God’s Love through Service”.

We hope you saw our Award winning float in the Kilmarnock Christmas Parade and if we can be of assistance to you or someone you know or to volunteer or donate please visit interfaithservicecouncil.org. 804-435-6050
