Rested, Reorganized, and Ready to Serve

Following a well-earned pause in August, the Interfaith Service Council has returned refreshed and ready to continue serving neighbors across Lancaster and Northumberland Counties. This brief slowdown allowed time for rest, reflection, and important planning as the organization prepares for continued growth.

Even during the August break, Interfaith remained responsive to urgent needs. Two emergency projects were completed, including the removal and installation of a donated metal ramp and the replacement of a bathroom floor along with a new toilet. These efforts ensured that homeowners facing immediate safety concerns were not left without support.

As September began, regular service resumed with renewed energy. Recent projects include the construction of a new stoop with a 24-foot accessibility ramp, as well as the preparation of a new tool and supply trailer. The trailer has been fully outfitted and clearly marked, helping streamline workdays and ensuring volunteers have what they need to serve efficiently in the field.

With new tools and resources in place, August also offered time for reflection and thoughtful adjustment as Interfaith continues to grow. As requests for assistance increase, the organization is taking intentional steps to strengthen coordination and better support volunteers, ensuring projects can be managed with care and consistency. This steady evolution reflects Interfaith’s commitment to keeping pace with community needs while remaining grounded in its mission.

Prepared to Serve in September

At present, Interfaith has 10 approved projects ready to move forward and 5 additional requests pending. Several large volunteer groups are scheduled to serve later this year, with additional groups already planned for next year. Outreach efforts will also continue through community events, with Interfaith planning to participate in upcoming parades, including the Northumberland High School Homecoming Parade and the Kilmarnock Christmas Parade.

As Interfaith moves into the fall season, the focus remains steady and clear: caring for neighbors, supporting volunteers, and responding faithfully when help is needed. Through thoughtful planning and a shared commitment to service, Interfaith Service Council continues its mission of Spreading God’s Love Through Service—one project and one household at a time.
